The artichoke vegetable or Cynara scolymus is a perennial plant growing up to 1.5 m tall. It belongs to the Asteraceae family, comes from the Mediterranean and has been known in the Czech Republic since the 16th century. The artichoke flowers are well-known, which are pink, but in gastronomy they are used unripe as a vegetable in the bud state - either fresh, raw or cooked.
The artichoke has a positive effect on digestion and liver function, which purifies. It contributes to the proper functioning of the heart and supports the function of the urinary tract. It helps in controlling body weight. Artichoke is known as an antioxidant.
Traditional use:
Pour two teaspoons of dried leaves over 250 ml of boiling water and let stand for about 15 minutes. Then strain and drink the tea prepared in this way 3 times a day.
