Assam is a tea originating from the northeastern state of India – Assam. The designation TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) indicates that it is a high-quality class of black tea with a large proportion of tips. It has a honey-like rounded, almost caramel taste with a floral overtone. The infusion is full, reddish-brown in color.
Black teas generally have a strong taste and a distinctive aroma. These are fermented teas. The fermentation process colors the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant and awakens their typical taste and aroma, while also extending their shelf life. In East Asia, black tea is also called red tea.
The Chinese tea plant acts as an antioxidant and supports physical and mental activity. Drinking tea is suitable for maintaining healthy teeth, supports bone and skin condition. It is recommended for weight control, is able to normalize blood glucose levels and fat metabolism. Supports normal heart health.
Recommended preparation:
Put one small tablespoon (approx. 6 g) of tea in a teapot and pour 500 ml of hot water just below the boiling point. Steep for 2–4 minutes. This tea is single-infusion and is suitable as a morning tea for a good breakfast.
