Product detailed description
Cardamom, lat. Elettaria cardamomum, is a sturdy herb growing up to four meters tall. It belongs to the ginger family and comes from the tropical rainforests of the Cardamom Mountains. It is still cultivated in India, and also in Guatemala, Tanzania and Sri Lanka.
The leaves are flat and grow up to 70 cm long. Its flowers are white, sometimes slightly yellowish with yellow or pink edges, with purple-pink veins. The subject of collection are the massive rhizomes and capsules, which are used as a spice.
Salvia Paradise® offers whole cardamom capsules. They have a distinct aroma and a pleasant, lemony taste with a floral aftertaste. Cardamom contributes to normal health of the urinary tract and kidneys. It has an effect on the digestive tract, nervous system, respiratory and cardiovascular health. Cardamom supports the body's natural defenses - the immune system.
Uses:
Cardamom generally enhances the flavors of all dishes to which it is added. It is traditionally added to black tea and coffee, as well as to meat or vegetable dishes. In Eastern cuisine, it is added to sweet pastries and sweets, such as cookies, gingerbread or homemade chocolates. The green capsule can be opened to get dark, strongly aromatic seeds, which can be easily crushed, for example, in a mortar.
Storage: Store carefully closed.
