The true cinnamon tree (lat. Cinnamomum verum) is a medium-tall tree growing up to 15 m tall. It is also known as the Ceylon cinnamon tree with the lat. name Cinnamomum zeylanicum. Its homeland is Sri Lanka and the adjacent coast of India. The bark from the true Ceylon cinnamon tree provides first-class quality of rolls. Cinnamon is characterized by a very pleasant characteristic aroma and taste with a lemon undertone.
Cinnamon has an effect on digestive comfort, stomach, appetite and also helps with problems with flatulence. It is recommended for supporting respiratory and cardiovascular health, supporting blood circulation, and influencing cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Cinnamon is known to affect reproductive functions and urinary tract, and contributes to maintaining normal health of skin and mucous membranes. True cinnamon has antioxidant properties.
Uses:
True cinnamon is very popular in cooking, baking and in mulled wine, puddings, porridges and muesli. In our country, it is often used especially in combination with apples or pears. It is a traditional part of various spice mixtures used in India. It is suitable for chutney, meat dishes, marinades and gourmet sauces.
