Chicory (lat. Cichorium inthybus) is a perennial plant growing up to 120 cm tall. Thanks to its beautiful purple inflorescence, it can also be seen in ornamental gardens. The entire plant is harvested – root, stem and flower. In the case of chicory, the root (Radix cichorii), stem (Herba cichorii) or leaf (both are best before flowering) or flower, which is best right when in bloom. The root is harvested in autumn.
Chicory supports the proper functioning of the digestive tract and liver. It has a positive effect on blood glucose levels.
It contributes to the proper functioning of the heart and blood vessels. It helps maintain healthy bones and joints.

Externally, chicory can be applied in the form of compresses for some skin problems and swollen joints.
Traditional use:
Pour one teaspoon with hot water and let it stand for 10 minutes. Drink one cup in the morning and evening. The drug is also often mixed with apple cider, chamomile or cream.
The whole plant can be used for compresses. Boil, strain, let it cool and apply the compresses to the affected areas.
