Chicory (lat. Cichorium inthybus) is a perennial plant growing up to 120 cm tall. Thanks to its beautiful purple inflorescence, it can also be seen in ornamental gardens. The entire plant is harvested – root, stem and flower. In the case of chicory, the root (Radix cichorii), stem (Herba cichorii) or leaf (both are best before flowering) or flower, which is best in bloom. The root is harvested in autumn.
Chicory supports the proper functioning of the digestive tract and liver. It has a positive effect on blood glucose levels.
It contributes to the proper functioning of the heart and blood vessels. It helps maintain healthy bones and joints.

Traditional use:
A decoction of the root is usually used, in a ratio of 5 g to 1 l of water. Boil and then strain. Drink one cup in the morning and evening. The drug is also often mixed with apple cider, chamomile or cream.
