Chuchuasi is a tree that comes from the Amazon rainforests, from Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. It reaches a height of up to 30 meters. The bark of the chuchuasi tree is extremely hard, reddish-brown in color. The chuchuasi leaves are large, oval, about 10–30 cm large and smooth. The tree blooms with small white flowers. It is also known by the Latin name Maytenus macrocarpa. The Peruvian name chuchuasi means "trembling back".
The traditionally used part of the chuchuasi is the bark of the tree.

Dosage and method of preparation: Pour one tablespoon of bark into 1 liter of cold water and bring to a boil over low heat for about 15 minutes. Strain and drink a glass (approximately 250 ml) of the decoction 3 times a day.
Warning: Not suitable for children under three years of age, pregnant and lactating women.
