Dangshen or hairy campanula is a perennial vine growing up to three meters long. It belongs to the Campanulaceae family (bellflower family). It originates from China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia. However, cultivation is also possible in the Central European region. Dangshen, under the Latin name Codonopsis pilosula, is also called poor man's ginseng – it has similar properties to true ginseng. The usable and collectable part is its root. The collection is carried out on annual or perennial plants.
