Date syrup is made from fresh Tunisian dates, grown as part of the Hand in Hand fair trade project. After pitting, the dates are boiled with water. The mixture is then filtered and concentrated into a dark, thick syrup. In addition to sweetness, it also gives dishes a pleasant molasses-like fruity taste and aroma. We use it for baking and to sweeten various dishes - desserts, flavored yogurts, muesli mixes, pancakes and porridge, but also in oriental dishes and Ayurvedic breakfasts. It is excellent in sweet and sour marinades. Be careful when dosing date syrup, as it is sweeter than sugar.
