Nordbo Double Sun contains Red Orange ComplexTM extract from a red orange and beta-carotene from the microalgae Dunaliella salina. The effects of these substances are related to protection from excessive sunlight and the condition of the skin. Beta-carotene can protect against damage from UV radiation. Part of it is converted into vitamin A and part of it is stored in the skin, where it helps to get a longer and gentler tan - the skin is more resistant to burning and drying. Red orange extract contains antioxidants called anthocyanins, flavonoids, and vitamin C. All of these substances have properties related to oxidative stress caused by excessive exposure to sunlight.
Red Orange ComplexTM
Red Orange ComplexTM is an extract from three types of Sicilian red orange - Moro, Tarocco and Sanguinello. These grow near Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano. In this area, there is an unusually high difference between day and night temperatures, which is very favorable for the nutritional value of red oranges. The big difference between heat and cold increases the content of natural dyes (pigment) and the content of antioxidants. Orange extract thus has a significant regenerative effect and was specially developed to reduce damage from UV radiation. It helps against redness, rash and hyperpigmentation. Excessive exposure to UV rays causes increased oxidative stress leading to premature aging of the skin.
Red Orange ComplexTM has been tested in several studies with good results. In one study, 25 people took 100 mg of the extract for 15 days and saw a 40% reduction in sun rash and redness in such a short period of time.
Beta-Carotene
Antioxidant, which is a precursor of vitamin A. The body converts it into this vitamin itself, but only the necessary amount. The rest passes through the bloodstream and is stored in fatty tissues. The subcutaneous fat is then saturated with orange-brown beta-carotene and the skin acquires a typical pigmentation. This process also reduces the risk of sunburn or eczema. Beta-carotene is fat-soluble and its absorption is improved when a small amount of fat is consumed at the same time - that's why Double sun contains MCT fats obtained from coconut. Beta-carotene itself is obtained from Dunaliella Salina algae (although it is an algae, it has a bright pink color) growing in very extreme conditions - for example, in salt mines in Antarctica.
