Product detailed description
It belongs to the Asteraceae family (starflower family). Nine varieties of coneflower are known, but only three are useful for humans. Our coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) is one of these three effective ones - it supports the immune system.
Echinacea is an herb that looks like a reddish-purple daisy. It is a native herb of North America and its use as a traditional herb was widespread among Native Americans, who used it for various problems. Immigrants took over the use of this traditional herb and included it among folk medicine preparations. After Lloyd Brothers Pharmacists produced several preparations from coneflower, it became a very popular remedy in the 1890s, which was part of almost every home medicine cabinet in the USA. Its use declined in the 1930s, and echinacea was only rediscovered in the 1970s, when it was enthusiastically welcomed by herbalists.
Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) is a traditional herb without side effects. In the 1950s and 1980s, several studies were conducted proving that it supports the immune system and has an effect on the body's natural defenses.
An interesting study was conducted by German scientists on a group of 42 triathletes who were given mineral supplements, placebo or echinacea three times a day. The group that was given echinacea showed the lowest immune system impairment.
Echinacea purpurea – Echinacea purpurea is very suitable for supporting the lower urinary tract. By using echinacea, we will strengthen the immune system and support the health of the urinary tract. Traditionally, echinacea is used for upper respiratory tract health. We recommend using it to support respiratory health, especially during the risky periods of autumn or winter, when our immune system is weakened.
External use: Externally, echinacea is used as a compress for minor skin injuries, burns, etc. In folk phytotherapy, it is used for swollen lymph nodes, stomach spasms, and insect bites.
If we want to prepare a tincture, it can be made using 60% alcohol, which is measured so that the total weight share of the coneflower root is 30–60%. It can also be prepared from fresh juice from the shoots or flowers, which is cold-pressed. It is then advisable to stabilize it with alcohol.
Echinacea is also grown as an ornamental plant forming part of flower beds, free plantings, usually in larger quantities of a similar species. Garden cultivars have many specific colors with different types of growth. As for the cultivation itself, it is a very tolerant and undemanding perennial. Although it prefers sunny places and permeable soils, the nutrient content may be lower and it can also be grown in dry places with partial shade.
Dosage: Boil one teaspoon of chopped coneflower root in 250 ml of water for about 15 minutes. You can add water. At first, the decoction is sweet, then it becomes bitter. We use the decoction prepared in this way twice a day.
Warning: It does not replace a varied diet. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage.
