The sedge is a perennial herb growing up to 50 cm tall. It is an evergreen, delicate plant originating from China and Japan. The sedge is characterized by elongated heart-shaped leaves and very small white and yellow inflorescences. It blooms in April and May, growing in large clusters. The plant prefers moist soil rich in humus and a shady location.
