Whole flaxseed is used as a decoration for breads and pastries, which also gives them a pleasant texture. Ground seeds can replace eggs in a recipe (instead of one egg, use 1 tablespoon of ground seeds and 3 tablespoons of water) or fat (3 parts ground seeds instead of 1 part fat). They also give the food a slightly nutty flavor. Ground seeds are more nutritionally valuable, which our body can process well. We grind the seeds at home, for example, in a poppy or flour mill, and it is better to consume them immediately after grinding. Ground seeds exposed to air and light will go rancid. If we cannot use all the ground seeds immediately, we pour them into a dark, airtight container and store them in the refrigerator. Stored in this way, ground flax seeds can last up to 10 months (According to studies, the composition of the fats present does not change much, i.e. the seeds do not rot. The studies did not examine the content of other nutritionally valuable substances - e.g. vitamin E.) Flax seeds soaked in water were a folk gentle remedy for constipation.
