The lemon tree, or true lemon tree, is an evergreen deciduous tree growing up to nine meters tall. It belongs to the Rutaceae family and is native to China or India.

The lemon tree has alternate, oblong, ovate leaves with a smooth edge and a bright green, waxy color. Its flowers are white, sometimes pinkish and strongly aromatic.
The fruit is an oval citrus - a lemon. Interestingly, a lemon can stay fresh on the plant for several months and can change from a yellow, ripe color back to a green, unripe one. Lemon is one of the most popular citrus fruits and its peel is one of the most famous spices in our country and abroad.
