Coriander is an annual plant growing up to one meter tall. It is native to Western Asia, but today it grows wild in the Mediterranean and has been cultivated in India, Egypt and the Czech Republic since time immemorial. The stem is erect, richly branched with serrated leaves. It blooms in June and July with pink to white flowers.
The fruit is a capsule containing seeds with a pleasant aroma. The harvested part is the coriander fruits and leaves, which are used both in gastronomy as a spice and in folk medicine. It is one of the oldest spices, which was already mentioned in the Old Testament.

Coriander fruit is particularly suitable for preparing Indian cuisine - chicken, rice. It can also be used to flavor mushrooms, beetroot and eggplant. Interestingly, it can be added to sweet dishes, such as cookies or fruit cakes. We recommend trying it in combination with pear and apple. It is often part of various spice mixtures, most often curry.
