Product detailed description
Acorus calamus (lat. Acorus calamus) is a perennial, very aromatic plant growing up to 1.5 m tall. The stem is triangular, rather red at the base. The plant originates from East India and China, it is now widespread throughout Europe, and was imported to the Czech Republic around the 16th century.
The object of collection is a fleshy, branched, creeping, yellow-green rhizome, which can be up to 50 cm long and about 3 cm thick. The rhizome is white when cut, the pulp is of a spongy consistency. Its use in Eastern medicine has been known for more than 2,000 years - it was used for stomach and digestive problems, and some tribes chewed it to achieve meditative states. During the crisis, it was used as a chewing tobacco substitute in the British Isles.
In today's phytotherapy, common gunpowder is used to support and normalize digestive functions, and is used for overall body refreshment.
