Young willow shoots of the species Salix Viminalis var. Gigantea for rodents.

The substances contained in willow bark and twigs are compared to the equivalent of plant aspirin. They are very beneficial in the treatment of rheumatic diseases, enteritis, fight fever and stop diarrhea.

Biting and crunching young willow twigs has effective anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and antibacterial effects.

Willow branches are also a rich source of mineral salts, ellagic acid, tannins, catechins and flavonoids. They are found both in the bark and in the pulp of young shoots.
