The common heartwort, lat. Leonorus cardiaca, is a perennial herb growing up to 1.5 m tall. It originally comes from central Asia and southeastern Europe, from where it has spread to practically the entire world thanks to its phytotherapeutic possibilities. The natural habitat of the heartwort in the wild is wastelands, garbage dumps, fields or other disturbed places.
It is also called heartwort, nettle nine, healer, heartwort, mint/heart spice, heartwort or medicinal heartwort.
It is most often used to support cardiovascular health, it also contributes to maintaining normal respiratory function, and has been reported to have beneficial effects on the nervous system. In women, heartwort maintains menstrual and premenstrual comfort.
Traditional use:
Pour one teaspoon of dried heartwort leaves into a cup of hot water. Let it steep for 15 minutes and then drink. The infusion prepared in this way is used 2–3 times a day.
