Japan Bancha is a basic tea that can be found in every Japanese household. It is sometimes referred to as three-year-old tea, which is derived from the age of the leaves that are collected for its production. Bancha is characterized by a higher amount of tannins and a lower caffeine content, which makes it possible to offer it to children. It is suitable for drinking all day long. It is made mainly from larger and older leaves on low branches of the tea plant. The infusion has a yellow-green color, a pleasant aroma and a subtly sweet, grassy, slightly astringent and fresh taste.
Green tea has been known to mankind for more than 5 thousand years and is perceived as a basic tea. The largest producers are China and Japan. It is part of Eastern medicine, where it is attributed magical effects. It is associated with many rituals and cultural traditions, especially in Southeast Asian countries. In general, green tea has a fresh aroma and a milder taste than black tea. Dried leaves should be green, firm and shiny. This is a tea that has undergone minimal oxidation.
Chinese tea tree acts as an antioxidant and supports physical and mental activity. Drinking tea is suitable for maintaining healthy teeth, supports the condition of bones and skin. It is recommended for weight control, and is able to normalize blood glucose levels and fat metabolism. It supports normal heart health.
Recommended preparation:
Pour two to three teaspoons (5 g) into 500 ml of water at a temperature of 80 °C and steep for 1–2 minutes, then strain. Up to three infusions can be prepared from this tea. With each subsequent infusion, it is advisable to extend the steeping time by one minute.
