Medium-chain triglycerides, or MCT fats, occur naturally in coconuts, from which they are obtained by fractional distillation. They have twice the energy value of carbohydrates, but they are used by the body in a different way than classic fats – they are used as fuel for the muscles and the brain, but they are not stored in the tissues. MCT oil Puhdistamo contains 60% caprylic acid (C8) = source of very fast energy, and 40% capric acid = source of medium-speed energy + vitality support.
MCT fats can therefore be used as an ingredient in any drink (they add into e.g. coffee or smoothies), or a meal as support for meal replacement.
