This long galvanized metal dog whistle emits a high-frequency (ultrasound-like) whistle that is less audible to the human ear. The intensity of the whistle and the frequency of the tone are adjusted by screwing the threaded piston rod secured with a hand-knurled lock nut, which are accessible after unscrewing the metal housing of the whistle. For possible protection against dust or moisture, the whistle comes with a slide-on metal cylindrical cover, which can be used to cover half of the whistle with the mouthpiece. The cylindrical cover is connected to the whistle with a chain to prevent loss.
