Maca peruviana is a small plant from the Peruvian Andes, where it thrives at an altitude of 3,500 m above sea level. Its effects have been confirmed for 6,000 years, when the Incas cultivated it on the plateaus. In Peru, they believed that gods lived high above the mountain peaks and one of them, called Viracocha, sent the plant to them to make their difficult life in unpredictable living conditions easier, and named it Ma-ca - "a plant coming from the heights to strengthen". In the Czech Republic, it can be found under the name Peruvian watercress, but the names Peruvian or Brazilian ginseng have also become popular. Maca is versatile and helps where it is needed.

The powder from the dried root of the plant is sweet and has a very delicate taste. We add this nutritious powder by the spoonful to smoothies, yogurt, muesli or oatmeal. We can also make a morning invigorating drink from maca powder - add one teaspoon of Maca to 250 ml of milk (or its plant-based alternative), water or juice and stir. We can use vanilla, cocoa or a natural sweetener (maple, agave or date syrup) for flavoring. Our Maca comes from small farmers from the highlands of the Andes. It was grown with respect for local biodiversity and purchased under fair conditions for growers.
