Product detailed description

With 3 blades, made of recycled plastic

This is the first razor on the Czech market to have a handle made of 100% recycled plastic (specifically, mainly from yogurt cups) and to have cruelty-free certification (HCS), which guarantees that the product is not tested on animals.

The Preserve Razor Triple razor contains triple blades covered with titanium and 2 heads in one package. The shaver is unisex, suitable for both men and women and thanks to the ergonomic handle with anti-slip treatment, you will shave easily and comfortably.

Once the blades are no longer sharp enough, simply purchase replacement pack.

The moisturizing strip contains aloe vera, a non-animal dye and oil with vitamin E. The razor is therefore suitable for vegans.

You can also use the packaging as a practical travel case.

Of course, free of Bisphenol-A (BPA) or phthalates.

What about animal testing of razors and razors containing animal ingredients?

Not that companies test the blades directly on animals - you don't have to worry about that even with ordinary supermarket brands. But you can't be sure that they don't test the moisturizing strips for possible allergic reactions. Animal testing of cosmetics has been banned in the EU for some time, but razors are not cosmetics and so the regulation doesn't reach there. Moreover, the most famous brands belong to megacorporations such as Procter&Gamble, which are known for actively testing their other products on animals.

PeTA lists companies on its website that manufacture razors and blades and that are guaranteed not to be tested on animals. Look at the list and you won't find the most famous brands available on the Czech market there.

In addition, it is common for moisturizing strips to contain animal ingredients - lanolin (from sheep's wool) or glycerin (which may or may not be of animal origin). Dyes may not be vegan either.

The Preserve brand immediately caught our attention

We looked at Preserve products for a long time. We don't know of any other brand that makes such great things like toothbrushes, razors, dishes, and kitchen utensils - all made from 100% recycled plastic (except for toothbrush bristles and razor blades) and with such a deep and detailed approach to overall sustainability.

Since its founding in 1996, Preserve has been guided by the principles of reduce - reuse - recycle. Through sustainable design, they design products that are as environmentally friendly as possible while also striving to last as long as possible.

Sustainable development at Preserve is defined as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".

Why polypropylene?

All Preserve products are made from recycled polypropylene (or PP #5). It was chosen for its health safety, safety and easy recyclability. Polypropylene does not release any hazardous chemicals such as Bisphenol-A (BPA) or phthalates.

Preserve thoroughly tests the materials used to guarantee their complete safety for humans. Even when used in a microwave or automatic dishwasher, which heats the plastics and increases the risk of releasing unwanted substances. All Preserve products are therefore also safe for dishwashers and microwaves (this applies, of course, to the product line of dishes and kitchen utensils).

Gimme 5

Preserve has created an innovative plastic recycling project that brings together responsible consumers, retailers, brands and recycling companies to save precious natural resources together. They jokingly called it "Gimme 5", which is a play on words in English that plays with the combination "give me five" (or "let's slap") and the number 5, which is the name of the plastic polypropylene, the recycled version of which Preserve products are made from - and which they encourage recycling through this program.

In the United States, they cooperate with manufacturers of, for example, yogurt packaging, from which they take leftover polypropylene plastic, but also allow people to send them used yogurt cups and other products made of PP #5 directly by mail (or through cooperating retailers).

Recycled plastic has a dramatically lower impact on the environment

Preserve conducts a detailed product life cycle assessment (LCA) study, which evaluates the overall impact on the environment from the acquisition of primary materials through production, sale, delivery to the customer and its disposal in the form of landfill, incineration or recycling. It shows that recycled plastic within the Gimme 5 program means an average of about 50% savings of all related resources compared to the production of new (virgin) plastic. And that's really worth it.

Recycled Preserve plastic saves at least:

  • 46% energy,
  • 54% water,
  • 64% greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2,
  • 75% oil.

Plastics are extremely useful ... but also a big problem

We can't imagine life in civilization without plastics today. Their invention was literally a revolution and many things would not exist today without them.

At the same time, they are made from a non-renewable and dirty resource, oil, the extraction, transport and processing of which is a huge environmental burden. Although plastics are recycled relatively widely in the Czech Republic and throughout Europe today (in the EU on average about 60%, but only about 5% worldwide), we still have huge reserves in this regard. A huge amount of them end up in landfills, where they can decompose for many hundreds of years, or even worse in forests, rivers or oceans, where they are the biggest problem. In the seas, they never decompose completely and the remaining microparticles are eaten by aquatic animals, causing them immense difficulties and literally killing them. If you eat fish, you also consume microplastics.

Did you know that all the plastic that humanity has ever produced still exists (if it has not been burned)?

How it all started at Preserve

Eric Hudson, the founder of the brand, has loved being in nature since he was a child. After his studies, he pursued a career in finance and consulting, and later turned this valuable experience into a business with the goal of protecting nature and its resources.

He was interested in the recycling program and was intrigued by the fact that while more and more consumers were recycling, only a minimum of manufacturers were using recycled materials well. There were plenty of cheap pencil holders and ashtrays, but no company with a strong vision. So in 1996, Eric founded Preserve in the United States, whose name can be translated into Czech as an effort to preserve or protect.

From the beginning, its goal was to use our mother Earth's resources more efficiently and responsibly. He wanted to transform recycled materials into products that were functional, well-designed, and easy to use. He did just that with his first product, which was such an everyday item as a toothbrush. Over the years, razors and dishes were added along with kitchen utensils.

Preserve is a "B Corp"

The "B Corporation" certification is a global initiative that defines the principles of modern environmentally and socially responsible business and brings together companies and organizations that honor and fulfill these principles. Through the free market, they want to solve the most current problems in the social field or in nature conservation.

This is perhaps one of the most important movements of our generation and we are extremely sympathetic to it. We secretly wish that we could be a part of it one day.

Their basic motto is that they hold back people who use business as a force for good. These are companies that don't want to be the best in the world - but the best FOR the world. They are trying to redefine what success in business actually means.

Today, B Corp brings together over 2,300 companies in more than 50 countries around the world.
