Chana Dal
Chana Dal consists of half a peeled chickpea and is indispensable in Ayurvedic and Indian cuisine. It is usually prepared with ghee, various spices and seasonal vegetables and is served plain or with rice. Chana Dal, like chickpeas themselves, tastes mild and slightly nutty.
For dal, curries, hummus, falafel, dips and sweet desserts.
Ingredients:peeled chickpeas* half, sunflower oil*
*from controlled organic production
Preparation:Rinse and soak for 8 to 12 hours. Rinse again under running water. Bring 1 cup Chana Dal to a boil with 3 cups water. Cover and simmer over low heat – firm to the bite in just 15 minutes, dal in 45 minutes. After cooking, season with salt and pepper.
Store in a cool, dry place.
