Product detailed description
Rooibos (lat. Aspalathus linearis) or Cape tea tree is an upright shrub growing up to 2 m tall. Harvesting begins with six-month-old plants, the leaves are collected in bags and then crushed. Green rooibos is not fermented, so it retains its fresh green color. For many generations, the drink has been very popular in South Africa, but it is currently consumed in many other countries around the world.
A cup of Rooibos tea (without sugar) also contains no calories. In addition, Rooibos teas do not contain caffeine, making them an alternative caffeine-free drink, suitable for drinking throughout the day even for children, infants and pregnant women.
The aroma of rooibos is often described as sweet and slightly nutty to honey-like. In addition, the green variant has a lower tannin content and has a somewhat grassy effect.
The provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council, on nutrition and health claims, do not allow us to inform you about the effects of this plant on your body. Please find information about the effects in freely available sources or in a herbarium.
Traditional use:
Pour two teaspoons of green rooibos over 250 ml of hot water and let it steep for about 5 minutes. You can also choose a stronger variant: 8–10 g = 4–5 teaspoons per 500 ml of water.
