Sambal is a very spicy seasoning, which is used mainly in Southeast Asian cuisine. It is excellent for grilling, baking, but also for preparing spicy sauces. The aroma is strongly peppery, pungent with a hint of garlic. The taste is distinct of chili and sweet pepper. It is a spicy and balanced mixture. It does not contain salt.
Ingredients: Sweet pepper, chili, garlic, onion, turmeric, bay leaf, fenugreek.
Usage:
Sambal is recommended for grilling various types of meat, vegetables or for spicy marinades and sauces. It is also suitable for immediate use - straight into the finished dish. It looks good on the table next to salt and pepper.
Storage: Keep dry and close tightly.
Sambal oelek recipes
For two servings we need:
- 500 g pork belly,
- 5 cloves of garlic,
- 2 tablespoons of Sambal spice,
- 1 teaspoon of soy sauce,
- 1 teaspoon of salt and cumin,
- 1–2 onions,
- 3 dl water,
- a sprig of lovage.
Procedure: From sambal, deci water, soy sauce, salt, cumin, lovage and crushed garlic, prepare a marinade, into which we put the diced pork belly. Let it marinate for about 1.5 hours. Spread the finely chopped onion on the bottom of the baking dish, add the marinated cubes, pour in the remaining water and bake until golden brown. Serve with rice.
