Biodegradation: Soap made from vegetable oils has the incomparable peculiarity that immediately after use it comes into contact with lime, which is always present in wastewater. As a result, the soap neutralizes itself with its surfactant effect (primary degradation). This primary breakdown occurs within a few hours. The lime soap is then 100% broken down by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water (secondary decomposition). The ethanol is reintegrated into the natural cycle within a few hours. In addition to the natural glycerine that is released from the oils during saponification, we also use herbal glycerine, which binds moisture to the skin. In the production process of sugar surfactants, parts of the starch, sugar and fat are removed from the plant raw materials, but their natural structure remains completely intact. It is therefore relatively easy for microorganisms to quickly and completely degrade these surfactants to 100%. According to the OECD, soap and sugar surfactants are considered to be readily biodegradable.
