Product detailed description
Tahuwari, lat. Tabebuia serratifolia is a tall, powerful tree growing up to 35 m tall. It is native to South America. The oldest trees have lived to be 700 years old, but tahuwari only became widely known at the beginning of the 19th century. The trunk has an average circumference of 3 m, the bark of the tree is gray-brown, rough, cracked and as if dry, inside it is soft, beige-yellow, with a sweet taste.
Tahuwari wood is hard, durable and was previously used to make ships, bows, weapons and spears. The leaves are elliptical, curl into various shapes, are shiny, rather brown in color. The inflorescence is beautiful, bell-shaped, golden in color - sometimes the flowers are purple or white. The subject of collection is mainly the bark, but also the flower and leaf.
