Tellicherry pepper is the fruit of the black pepper plant, lat. Piper nigrum, which comes from the Indian subcontinent from the Malabar coast. Only larger fruits growing to a minimum size of 4.25 mm are collected.
Fruits of this size only account for 10% of the total production. The size of the balls determines the taste, quality and aroma of the pepper. Larger pepper fruits have the space to create a stronger pepper aroma and taste.
