Tonka beans, sometimes also called tonka beans, are the fermented seeds of the Tonka bean tree, which grows in Central America and northern South America. Historically, Tonka was used in perfumery and the tobacco industry as a substitute for vanilla.

In recent years, due to its specific aroma, it has become a very popular ingredient in gastronomy, especially in French cuisine.

The aroma of tonka beans when grated resembles spicy vanilla, nougat and nuts, it is very strong - only a very small amount is needed for flavoring.

During storage, white crystals may form on the surface of the beans. These crystals are not a defect, they are a natural process during storage and do not affect the quality of the beans.

Provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2008 on the 1924/2006, on nutritional and health claims, does not allow us to inform you about the positive effects of this plant on your body. Use: Tonka beans are used primarily to flavor sauces, ice cream, chocolates and other dishes. Their aroma is very pronounced, you only need to use a very small amount - on the tip of a knife.
