This spice blend is intended for preparing a fragrant warming drink called golden milk - according to the Ayurvedic recipe. Turmeric and ginger go well together and give the drink a slightly bitter, pungent taste. The aroma and spicy notes are added to the mixture by Ceylon cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and a pinch of pepper. Preparation: Mix 1 teaspoon of the mixture in 250 ml of hot milk or herbal drink. The drink can be frothed and sweetened with your favorite sweetener to taste.

According to the traditional Ayurvedic recipe, golden milk is prepared from turmeric paste, which is mixed in herbal milk and allowed to boil in the milk for a few minutes. The drink is seasoned with honey and finally a teaspoon of coconut oil or ghee is added. Turmeric root contains curcumin, which is attributed strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in Ayurveda. The fat in the drink helps to better absorb curcumin, and black pepper can multiply its effect. Cinnamon is also great for preventing colds.
