Product detailed description
The Brazilian pepper tree is a tree growing up to 10 m tall. It is sometimes referred to as a shrub, which is attributed to its densely branched, intertwined crown. Its homeland is South America - Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, where it is often grown as an ornamental plant. Its leaves are oval, alternate and up to 22 cm long. It blooms from September to November with small, white flowers. The fruit is a small, red drupe growing up to 4 mm in size.
Unlike conventional black pepper, which is also differentiated (depending on maturity) into green and white pepper, red pepper is harvested only when fully ripe. Sometimes red pepper is mistakenly referred to as pink pepper, but pink pepper comes from another plant, which is known by the Latin name Schinus molle.
Red pepper differs from black pepper mainly in its taste, which is not as hot and peppery. It is a mildly aromatic and flavorful spice that will add a special touch to any dish you prepare. The skin is red, fragile, with a hint of sweetness, the hard seed inside smells like dill. It creates a very interesting contrast on the plate with black, white and green pepper.
Use:
It perfectly complements the taste of beef and pork, pâtés, sausages and seafood. We recommend trying it in combination with other types of peppers, e.g. when preparing fish.
Storage: Keep dry and close carefully.
