Product detailed description
Since time immemorial, black elderberry (lat. Sambucus nigra) has been a popular plant used in folk medicine. Its importance is also evidenced by the old Czech proverb: “Shrug before chamomile, kneel before elderberry.”
Black elderberry is often used to support the immune system and its natural defenses, especially in risky parts of the year. It is known as a strong antioxidant.
It helps maintain normal blood glucose levels. It has a positive effect on the functions of the respiratory system. Black elderberry is recommended for body weight control and in cleansing peels, it helps excrete water from the body.
Provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006, on nutritional and health claims, does not allow us to inform you about other positive effects of this plant on your body. Please find information about its effects in freely available sources on the Internet or in literature.
In the past, fresh flowers were prepared in the countryside fried in a tri-fold bag as a tasty dish, which became known as "cosmatics".
The essential oils obtained from elderberry flowers are also used industrially in the production of perfumes or for flavoring wine, to which they give the hallmark of old wine.
Elderberry flowers are collected in dry weather during flowering, before they start to fall off on their own (May to July). They are dried spread out at a temperature of up to 35 °C. Slow drying at low temperatures could cause the flower to turn black.
Traditional use: Pour one teaspoon of dried elderflower with hot water and let it stand for 10 minutes. Drink 1–2 times a day.
