PREBIOTICS - when a person consumes yogurt, they also consume the bacteria that make it up and that are still alive. These bacteria, usually Lactobacillus, have a beneficial probiotic effect. Prebiotics intended for dogs and cats contribute in the same way to maintaining a healthy intestinal microflora and stimulating the immune system's defenses. 80% of immunity is found in the intestines. This is a population of microorganisms that reside in the digestive tract and are responsible for the proper digestion of certain nutrients, fighting off pathogen attacks and also producing some vitamins.

LACTOSE FREE - Lactose intolerance is a condition derived from a lack of lactase. This enzyme is produced during lactation and then stops being produced, although many people and some animals continue to produce it. When lactase stops being produced, diarrhea and bloating occur, which is why we recommend only 100% LACTOSE FREE products, such as Yowup yogurt, for dogs and cats.

NO ADDED SUGAR - dogs and especially cats have a shorter intestine, they do not metabolize vitamins or sugars as quickly, they accumulate in the body. Therefore, it is not recommended to add any type of sugar to products intended for pets. They also naturally do not like it. Cats have no taste for sweets, this is because the sweet taste is not perceived by the cat's taste buds, so it is an unattractive reward.

0% FAT - milk fat is a natural source of bioactive substances (butyric acid, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), phospholipids and sphingolipids, but the main source of fat and protein in dogs and cats is meat, fish or even dry food. Yogurt must contain 0% FAT, because as an essential dietary supplement for its development, it should not add many calories to the normal daily intake.

The nutritional need for calcium (Ca) can be covered by other food sources, such as nuts and seeds, fatty fish, green leafy vegetables, but not in sufficient quantities and in such comfort and convenience as yogurt. Not only the amount of Ca supplied by food is important, but also the matrix in which this calcium is found, which determines its bioavailability and absorbability. In this case, calcium from dairy products is found in the non-fat fraction and, unlike other foods, is easily absorbed.
