Fragrant anise, lat. Pimpinella anisum, is an annual herb growing up to 60 cm tall. The whole plant has an interesting, strong aromatic scent. The inflorescence is white, on average 3 mm in size, stratified into an umbel shape. The fruit of anise is a hard seed, also called anise spice. Anise was used as a spice in ancient times in the Mediterranean region. This area is also considered its homeland. Its taste resembles licorice, which is why it is used in cold cuisine, but also in the production of pastries, sauces and other cooked dishes.
In phytotherapy, anise is used to support appetite, digestion and function of the intestinal tract. It contributes to maintaining normal respiratory system functions, influences the production of breast milk, is suitable during breastfeeding.
The provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council, on nutrition and health claims, do not allow us to inform you about other positive effects of this plant on your body. Please find information about its effects in freely available sources on the Internet or in literature.
Traditional use:
Pour one teaspoon of dried fruit over 200 ml of boiling water and let it steep. The infusion prepared in this way is used up to 3 times a day. It is used as a spice according to need and taste.
