Natural muscovado cane sugar is produced by thickening cane juice without removing residual molasses. It has fine crystals and the typical rich taste and aroma of cane juice. The brown color is the result of leaving some of the molasses in the sugar crystals. Muscovado is excellent for chocolate doughs, gingerbread and fruit cakes. If the sugar hardens, just leave it in a bowl covered with a wet cloth overnight. Natural cane sugar from Mauritius is renowned all over the world. This tropical island is blessed with ideal conditions for growing sugar cane. The volcanic origin of the island ensures fertile soil rich in minerals and the climatic conditions are perfect for sugar cane. Mauritian cane sugar has uniform, evenly colored crystals and a typical cane aroma.
