Whole grain spelt flour is a full-fledged flour made from whole grains and gives dishes a delicate nutty taste and aroma. Its color is naturally darker, it contains a higher proportion of fiber and other valuable nutrients found in the shell and in the germ of the grain. We can use it to prepare cakes, buns, gingerbread, but also to bake bread or pizza. Whole grain flour has a stronger taste and the dough is stiffer. We can initially add it to white flour and gradually increase its ratio.
Spelt is one of the oldest original cereals and has a similar composition to classic wheat. However, it is nutritionally richer and contains more beneficial substances. Due to its considerable resistance to pests, diseases and adverse weather conditions, it is a completely suitable and frequently used crop in controlled organic farming.
